So how do I get virtually anything inside my presentation?

June/30 2009 by Karol

Customer: “I need to display virtually any kind of content in my Ventuz presentation: my Fortran Compiler output, Word documents, Flash animations, etc…”

The Support Guy: “So you are a magican like David C. or Gandalf, aren´t you?”

Customer: “No! I´m unfortunately not!”

The Support Guy: “Ok, then visite www.hmelyoff.com .”

Customer: “OK, but how will this help me?”

The Support Guy: “They offer VH Screen Capture Driver which is a DirectShow filter, that emulates a Video Capture card and captures your screen.”

Customer: “You mean I could use it with the Live Video node and display the capturing as a texture?”

The Support Guy: “Absolutely right!”

Customer: “Are there any drawbacks?”

The Support Guy: “Hmmm…? No, not really. But don´t expect to capture in 60 Hz – in return it´s free!”

Customer: “Thanks! Good idea.”

Augmented Reality – TabulaTrack

June/27 2009 by Ralf

The first test with “Tabulatrack” was very successful. Trackmen and 4tv realized this POC. Ventuz receives OSC tracking data from the TabulaTrack system and displays the 2D and 3D objects in real-time. 4tv used the Ventuz Broadcast Edition with the Deltacast-hd-key-22 SDI board to generate the Fill+Key signals, keyed on a normal production mixer.

This test is just a prove of conecpt and the adaption to TabulaTack is not finalized yet, but it demonstrates again how flexible Ventuz actually is in receiveing and handling complex data – without any plugins!

creative help from Denmark

June/25 2009 by Andre

I am not surfing around the whole working day…… I swear !

I thought it would help to calm down, BUT Ventuz is everywhere….. and this time I found something in Denmark.

Anthony Lewis (aka Tony) Brooks from Aalborg University, DK creates interactive environments for disabled people where he uses large touch screen interfaces or sensor inputs.

I think a perfect field of application for Ventuz. He did some cool stuff for disabled kids :

There is also a link to his GALLERY which is quiet impressive.

Thx Tony for this really cool charity idea !

Hide-and-seek

June/17 2009 by Andre

We just had an interesting discussion here….

I think it is kind of funny that customers try to hide the name “VENTUZ” to prevent competition as I always thought it is the quality of the operators that determines a pitch…And if the work/output is excellent there is no need to hide the name Ventuz.

As we are not a company with a large marketing budget we are reliant on getting our brand into the world through our existing customers…. We need all geeks and nerds trying out Ventuz !

I found a similar post on another blog where “VENTUZ” had been removed to take some kind of advantage.

Crazy world :)

Open Source Multi-Touch API

June/16 2009 by Karol

Colin from Joys Production pointed me to Community Core Vision, which is an open source/cross-platform solution for computer vision and machine sensing. It should be pretty easy to create nice multi-touch apps with Ventuz because CCV sends the tracking data via OSC.

Holodeck

June/9 2009 by Andre

Just found another pretty cool piece of Ventuz production at : http://www.infinitevision.de/blog/

A good example how digitial signage with Ventuz could work. The 3D-holographic-screen is amazing. A really good job….

Ventuz in 64 bit flavour

June/9 2009 by Karol

ventuzx64_sm

Just doing some development towards a 64 bit version of Ventuz. It´s already working as you can see above but there are still some issues to fix. A 64 bit version will give you the possibility to use more than 1.4 Gb memory for the Ventuz process. But don´t expect to build scenes with a million nodes that run smootly. The Garbage Collector of .Net might upset your plans.
If your scene gets really big Ventuz will hold a lot of objects which have to be inspected by the GC. This might cause render stalls. But you can use more and bigger resources. If your graphics cards has 4 GB you can use a lot of images and textures in your scene, highly tessellated models etc… YEAH – no problem!
Unfortunately some APIs that Ventuz depends on have no 64 bit version. For example Quicktime. This means no QT in the 64 bit version of Ventuz as long as the guys from Cupertino are not able to build a 64 bit version of Apple Quicktime.

See that? All 43-inches of this curved NEC monitor with 2880×900 pixel resolution can be yours in July. Ok, it’ll cost you $7,999 but it’s, well, it’s curved!
