Ventuz 3 – it’s here!

October/18 2010 by Katharina

We are proud to announce that our new software baby is born and ready for the world. We hereby open the public beta phase in which you all are invited to test, comment, criticise and jubilate. Download Ventuz 3 beta on www.ventuz.com. Your professional licenses will be valid for Ventuz 3 during the complete beta phase.

What is new?

The major novelty are the amazing little interaction nodes. Never before has the creation of interactive content been this easy.

Another very nice new feature is picking and manipulation. It allows you to directly influence objects in the render window.

Find the detailed description on our website and download Ventuz 3 there as well.

Since Ventuz 3 is currently still a beta version, we do not support it. Therefore we do recommend that you test very carefully before you go into critical production with it.

We hope that you run Ventuz 3 through its paces and please let us know what you think. There is a new instant-feedback-button that should make this very easy for you!

Have fun!

Input diet

September/23 2010 by Andre

Just got an e-mail from Deltacast announcing a new DVI input board equipped with one DVI input. I think producing this DELTA-dvi-e-10 is a great decision as most of our customers need only a single input.

Thx Steven from Deltacast for this idea and hopefully a nice price….

International Ventuz Freelancer Database

September/20 2010 by Katharina

Oftentimes we get the question whether we know any Ventuz Freelancers in a certain area. Usually, we don’t!

Which is why we are launching the International Ventuz Freelancer Database. If you are interested in being listed, please send your contact information to kg(at)ventuz(dot)com.

The IVFD will be an inhouse database to which we distribute inquiries that we get concerning Freelancers. Each listed Freelancer can decide by him/herself if he/she wants to answer an inquiry or not. No worries, we will not give your contact info to anyone without your consent or use it for anything illegal or annoying. Also, you are free to ask for removal from the list at any time.

There are plenty of Ventuz-jobs out there that are waiting for gifted Freelancers. It would be sad if these jobs would be lost just because the Ventuzians don’t find each other!

Anisotropic Texture filtering

September/10 2010 by Karol

It seems that even a lot of Ventuz veterans don´t know the concept of anisotropic filtering:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_filtering

I often stumble across scenes from long-serving Ventuz artists which do not use anisotropic filtering for their texture and images. Without doubt this filtering improves the visual quality of the renderings. Take a look a the image below to see the difference:

Anisotripic Filter Example

To enable AF in Ventuz select the according Texture node and switch the Min and Mag Filter properties to Anisotropic. Additionally increase the MaxAnisotropy property in the Advanced category to e.g. 16!
The same mechanism is applied to the Texture Font rendering by default to increase readability. AF can be en-/disabled here by the AnisotripicFilter property.

Happy Rendering!

Hide and Seek

August/27 2010 by Andre

We lately launched the 4th generation of dongles….. yes, the tiny orange ones people complaining about that they can get lost very easily . Before they were arguing the black large G3 ones as well as G1 and G2 always break because of the size…… but different story.

Some maybe also know the internal dongles we provided, that are directly plugged on the Mainboard USB socket. In order to safe for damage or loss, many customers used them for signage projects. Now as therey are sold out and we don’t have any in stock we thought of another solution and found :

TADAAAAAA:

usb_intern

Actually it is the same thing than before. We use the internal USB socket. This little thing from DeLOCK is a USB Pinheader female to 2xUSB 2.0-A female. Just plug in your Ventuz dongle and have it warm and safe in the machine. I think even the large dongles G1 – G3 will fit.

So again size doesn’t matter … :)

Coming next….Multitouch

August/23 2010 by Andre

Just received a loaner of a 3M Multitouch 22″ ! Worth to test upcoming Multitouch features of next Ventuz release. Although it is BETA it works like a charm….

The quality of the 3M is quiet nice. On very bright backgrounds we noticed  cross patterns. Maybe this grid will disappear within the next LCD releases. But so far a pretty cool solution for a up to 20 finger system….
